Tears are secretions that clean and lubricate the eyes. Lacrimation or lachrymation (from Latin lacrima, meaning "tear") is the production or shedding of tears.
Haemo = blood
lacria = tears
Causes :
- Haemolacria is a symptom of a number of diseases, and may also be indicative of a tumour in the lacrimal apparatus.
- It is most often provoked by local factors such as bacterial conjunctivitis, environmental damage or injuries.
- Acute haemolacria can occur in fertile women and seems to be induced by hormones.
Example of the case :
Rashida Khatoon, from India, can cry blood up to 5 times a day, and even faint with every weeping.
