One of the most important places that we can not visit Paris and not visit it, is the Louvre Museum , which I insist to visit it according the advice of an  Egyptian friend who told me" do not miss the visit of the Louvre Museum" .

The museum is very impressive from the moment you enter the outer   huge gates .The museum is very big  and wide.

Its Site and location :The museum is located on the north bank of the River Seine in Paris , capital of France .

Louvre Museum is the largest showroom for the Global Arts and has many of the Egyptian antiquities taken during the French campaign on Egypt.

It was a fortress built by Philippe Auguste in 1190 , to avoid surprises disturbing attack on the city during the long periods of absence in the Crusades.

History of the Louvre
The museum is housed in the Louvre Palace (Palais du Louvre) which began as a fortress built in the late 12th century under Philip II. Remnants of the fortress are visible in the basement of the museum. The building was extended many times to form the present Louvre Palace. In 1682, Louis XIV chose thePalace of Versailles for his household, leaving the Louvre primarily as a place to display the royal collection, including, from 1692, a collection of antique sculpture. In 1692, the building was occupied by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres and the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, which in 1699 held the first of a series of salons. The Académie remained at the Louvre for 100 years. During the French Revolution, the National Assembly decreed that the Louvre should be used as a museum, to display the nation's masterpieces.

The contents of the Louvre

From the most important departments of the Louvre is:

Egyptian antiquities, and The
Hall of Mona Lisa

Egyptian antiquities:
The department, comprising over 50,000 pieces, includes artifacts from the Nile civilizations which date from 4,000 BC to the 4th century. The collection, among the world's largest, overviews Egyptian life spanning Ancient Egypt, the Middle Kingdom, the New Kingdom, Coptic art, and the Roman, Ptolemaic, and Byzantine periods. The department's origins lie in the royal collection, but it was augmented by Napoleon's 1798 expeditionary trip withDominique Vivant, the future director of the Louvre.

Among the most important pieces( in my opinion)

**The mummy

**The imitation of the sphinx

**The wise and learned imhotep (le sage et savant imhotep)

The Hall of Mona Lisa
It is a very crowded hall contains many other paintings and drawings ,but all the people are watching Mona Liza.
It is very hard to take a picture for it .
Mona Liza is marked with red circle
It is so hard and very long to write every thing in that two departments .

Thanks a lot I hope you like it
